What is the PPI?

The Producer Price Index tracks changes in the prices that domestic producers receive for their goods and services. Released monthly by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, it serves as an early signal of wholesale inflation that often precedes shifts in consumer prices.

Because the PPI directly influences expectations for Federal Reserve policy, it tends to trigger immediate moves across risk assets. Bitcoin frequently amplifies these reactions due to its high beta to liquidity and rate-sensitive flows.

Traders watch PPI prints for clues on whether tighter or looser policy is likely ahead. A hotter-than-expected reading can pressure BTC lower through higher real yields, while a cooler print often supports short-term risk appetite.

Increase

In the Increase scenario, the average high reaches 81,636.04 within the first hour and extends to 81,779.20 by the two-hour mark. The average close stays near 81,184.98 after one hour and 81,218.27 after two hours, showing limited net drift despite intraday swings. The minimum low recorded across the sample hits 78,846.17, while the maximum high reaches 84,027.22 within the first hour and climbs further to 84,094.05 by two hours.

Decrease

In the Decrease scenario, the average high climbs to 81,878.83 in the first hour and 82,072.82 by two hours. The average close settles at 81,486.72 after one hour before easing to 81,300.53 after two hours. The minimum low reaches 80,233.31 within the first hour, while the maximum high extends to 83,271.49 in the first hour and 83,844.12 by two hours.

Trading Strategy

Watch the first 1–5 minutes for a decisive break above 81,325.94 in the Increase scenario or below 81,139.59 in the Decrease scenario. Enter long on a sustained move above the 5-minute average high of 81,390.17 with a stop just under the 1-hour minimum low of 78,846.17; target the 4-hour maximum high of 84,869.10 for the first scale-out. In the Decrease scenario, enter short below the 5-minute average low of 81,041.34 with a stop above the 1-hour maximum high of 83,271.49 and initial profit at the 4-hour minimum low of 77,952.24.

Position size should reflect the full volatility range shown: the Increase scenario spans roughly 3,500 points from min low to max high in the first hour, while the Decrease scenario spans about 3,000 points. Reduce size by half if the initial reaction stays inside the 15-minute average high and low bands, and avoid adding to the position until price clears the 30-minute average close level.

How to Trade This with Clometrix

The Min Low at the 1-hour interval shows the lowest price observed after past PPI releases in each scenario. In the Increase scenario this level sits at 78,846.17, giving traders a concrete reference for the worst-case downside seen historically and a logical place to set a stop.

The Max High at the same 1-hour interval marks the highest price reached after those same releases. In the Increase scenario this prints at 84,027.22, serving as a natural take-profit reference on the upside.

To calculate risk/reward, subtract the reference price of 81,200.00 from the Min Low to get downside risk of 2,353.83. Subtract the reference price from the Max High to get upside potential of 2,827.22. Dividing the two figures produces a risk/reward ratio of approximately 1.20:1 when using these historical extremes.

The Average Close of 81,184.98 after one hour in the Increase scenario indicates that, on average, price tends to finish near the reference level rather than at the extremes. Traders can use this as a baseline expectation when planning scale-out levels or deciding whether to hold through the initial volatility.

Using the rounded reference price of 81,200.00 keeps entry, stop, and target calculations simple and consistent across different account sizes.

Monitor the live Clometrix forecast chart for real-time updates to these levels as the PPI release approaches, and check back immediately after the 8:30 AM ET print for any scenario shifts.
