The release
Released by the Department of Labor on 3 September 2026 at 8:30 AM EDT. Initial Jobless Claims rose to 206K for the week ending 29th Aug, from 203K in the week ending 22nd Aug.
It arrived at the same moment as International Trade Balance in Goods and Services, International Imports in Goods and Services, International Exports in Goods and Services and Continued Jobless Claims, so the reaction measured on this page belongs to all of them together.
Measured by Clometrix
Aptos's volatility ratio was 1.42x, against 1.41x for a typical Initial Claims release since 2021. Its volume ratio was 1.00x, against a typical 1.81x. Under 1.5x is not a reaction at all: the market barely noticed this release. Both compare the quarter hour of the release with an ordinary quarter hour that same day, where 1.00x is no change: volatility is how far the price ranged, volume how much traded.
How Aptos moved
Aptos was at $0.605 when the figure came out. Fifteen minutes later it was 0.17% lower, and an hour later unchanged. Its high-to-low range in the hour after was 1.16% of its price, against 3.31% in the hour before.
What made it matter
Since 2021, Initial Claims releases in the two weeks before a Fed decision have moved Aptos more than those at other times: a median volatility ratio of 1.61x across 66, against 1.35x across 144. This one came out 13 days before the Federal Reserve's 16 September rate decision. Its own ratio of 1.42x compares with 1.61x for those, about what its circumstances would suggest.
How it compares
Across 210 Initial Claims releases since 2021, Aptos's usual price swing is 1.41x. This one was 1.00 times the usual.
Thin line: Initial Claims's usual, 1.41x. Thick line: this release, 1.42x. Under 1.5x counts as no reaction at all.
