Under 1.5x is not a reaction at all: the market barely noticed this release. Both compare the quarter hour of the release with an ordinary quarter hour that same day, where 1.00x is no change: volatility is how far the price ranged, volume how much traded.
How Ethereum moved
Ethereum was at $1,623.00 when the figure came out. Fifteen minutes later it was 0.18% higher, and an hour later 0.29% higher. Its high-to-low range in the hour after was 1.07% of its price, against 1.06% in the hour before.
What made it matter
Since 2021, Personal Income releases in the two weeks before a Fed decision have moved Ethereum about as much as those at other times: a median volatility ratio of 1.86x across 18, against 1.77x across 51. This one was not within two weeks of a Fed decision. Its own ratio of 1.25x compares with 1.77x for those, so it moved the price less than its circumstances would suggest.
What it means
Ethereum registered a quiet reaction to the Personal Income release, with a volatility ratio of 1.25x against the event's typical 1.80x since 2021. Volume stayed subdued at 0.87x compared with the usual 2.15x. The release arrived alongside Personal Consumption Expenditures and Core Personal Consumption Expenditures, so the measured response reflects the combined data.
Price action remained contained. Ethereum stood at $1,623.00 at the 8:30 AM release. It rose 0.18 percent fifteen minutes later and 0.29 percent after one hour. The high-to-low range in the following hour reached 1.07 percent of price, little changed from the 1.06 percent recorded in the hour before.
This release fell outside the two-week window ahead of a Federal Reserve decision. Personal Income prints at other times have shown a median volatility ratio of 1.77x for Ethereum. The 1.25x outcome here therefore fell below what the timing alone would have implied. Traders may note that releases with similar characteristics have not produced consistent volatility spikes, though each instance still requires separate assessment against prevailing market conditions.
