Measured by Clometrix
Hedera's volatility ratio was 2.64x, against 1.32x for a typical Continued Claims release since 2021. Its volume ratio was 6.50x, against a typical 1.56x. That is more than twice what this release usually does. Both compare the quarter hour of the release with an ordinary quarter hour that same day, where 1.00x is no change: volatility is how far the price ranged, volume how much traded.

What made it matter
Since 2021, Continued Claims releases in the two weeks before a Fed decision have moved Hedera about as much as those at other times: a median volatility ratio of 1.41x across 92, against 1.30x across 204. This one came out 6 days before the Federal Reserve's 28 January rate decision. Its own ratio of 2.64x compares with 1.41x for those, so it moved the price more than its circumstances alone would suggest.

What is Continued Jobless Claims?
The weekly claims report is released Thursdays at 8:30 a.m. ET by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL). Continued claims, also referred to as insured unemployment, is the number of people who have already filed an initial claim and who have experienced a week of unemployment and then filed a continued claim to claim benefits for that week of unemployment. Continued claims data are based on the week of unemployment, not the week when the initial claim was filed.Questions about this page
