How XRP moved
XRP was at $1.0800 when the figure came out. Fifteen minutes later it was unchanged, and an hour later unchanged. Its high-to-low range in the hour after was 0% of its price, against 0.93% in the hour before.
Measured by Clometrix
XRP's volume ratio was 2.80x, against a typical 1.54x. Its volatility ratio could not be measured: the price barely moved through the rest of the day, so there is no ordinary quarter hour to compare against. The ratio compares the quarter hour of the release with an ordinary quarter hour that same day, where 1.00x is no change.
What made it matter
Since 2021, Continued Claims releases in the two weeks before a Fed decision have moved XRP about as much as those at other times: a median volatility ratio of 1.14x across 87, against 1.20x across 193. This one came out the day after the Federal Reserve's 29 July rate decision.
Its record
Across 280 Continued Claims releases since 2021, XRP's median volatility ratio is 1.18x.

What is Continued Jobless Claims?
The weekly claims report is released Thursdays at 8:30 a.m. ET by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL). Continued claims, also referred to as insured unemployment, is the number of people who have already filed an initial claim and who have experienced a week of unemployment and then filed a continued claim to claim benefits for that week of unemployment. Continued claims data are based on the week of unemployment, not the week when the initial claim was filed.Disclaimer
