How Bitcoin moved

Bitcoin was at $61,346.01 when the figure came out. Fifteen minutes later it was unchanged, and an hour later 0.56% higher. Its high-to-low range in the hour after was 1.27% of its price, against 0.47% in the hour before.

That is a muted reaction by this release's own standard. What made it matter

Since 2021, Non-Farm Payrolls releases in the two weeks before a Fed decision have moved Bitcoin about as much as those at other times: a median volatility ratio of 3.15x across 21, against 3.22x across 49. This one was not within two weeks of a Fed decision. Its own ratio of 2.19x compares with 3.22x for those, so it moved the price less than its circumstances would suggest.

This is measured by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), which surveys private and government entities throughout the U.S. about their payrolls.
